INTERIOR DESIGN ASSOCIATE, Junior or Intermediate

Objective:

To contribute both creatively and technically to successful design projects, working closely under a senior team member and in a collaborative environment, while developing skills, knowledge, and confidence as a designer.

Required qualifications:

  • 1 to 5 years professional experience at an interior design or architecture firm
  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design (Associate's Degree + professional experience considered)
  • AutoCAD proficiency and drafting experience for construction (please provide samples)
  • Adobe InDesign proficiency for creating/editing presentation layouts
  • Basic familiarity with design and construction concepts/terminology common to luxury residential projects
  • Some familiarity with sources and materials to select high-end residential furnishings and finishes
  • Understanding of our firm's design aesthetics
  • Ability to productively receive direction, and to work well with others as well as independently
  • Desire to deliver outstanding design and thoughtful solutions for our clients
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written

Key duties:

  • With time and experience, contribute with an increasing level of competency in both creative and technical tasks in all phases of assigned projects, from concept through construction and installation
  • Increasingly autonomous, skillful, and accurate drafting of construction documents for detailed custom interiors using AutoCAD software
  • Select options for furnishings, finishes, and fixtures in accordance with design concept and any other parameters, by visiting local showrooms, searching vendor websites, and referencing product library
  • Help develop design presentation deliverables, including material trays, digital collages, and presentation booklets to ARI standards
  • Assist in coordination of information with clients, contractors/builders, architects, and engineers
  • Research solutions and sources for unique, project-specific challenges as directed by PM
  • Attend meetings and project site visits as requested by Project Manager. Take notes and/or photos, and archive digitally as needed
  • Interface with vendors and sales reps to obtain product information and samples
  • Input and maintain accurate product specification details in Studio Designer software (will train)
  • Attend vendor representative presentations and meetings to develop and expand product knowledge
  • Maintain project binders for assigned projects
  • Provide hands-on assistance with project installations
  • Create positive, respectful interactions with other team members both inside and outside the firm
  • Other tasks as assigned

Must have valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle transportation.
