Interior Design Assistant (Full-time)

Objective: Provide both creative and administrative support for the design team. Take initiative in other areas to enhance office productivity and profitability.

Duties of the Interior Design Assistant:

  • Assist in all phases of the process for all assigned projects
  • Serve as a supporting designer for assigned projects
  • Contribute to the creation of design drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD software
  • Aid in product selection and sourcing
  • Attend client meetings as requested with Principal Interior Designer and/or Project Manager to assist and take notes
  • Maintain product library for ease of retrieval by design team
  • Manage and schedule vendor representatives for presentations and meetings
  • Accurately input product data into the firm’s management program as requested
  • Obtain quotes and samples from suppliers
  • Assist with presentation preparation
  • Assist the team on location during project installations
  • Help maintain office supply inventory and ensure office is stocked for its needs
  • Answer phones, take messages, and follow up as requested
  • Pitch in with anything else that is required. We are a small team and everyone’s contribution is important, especially during peak times

Education and Experience: Minimum of an Associate’s degree in interior design, drafting, or architecture, Plus a minimum 1 year professional design office experience.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting of construction drawings is required. At least a working knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign is preferred.

Personal Qualities: Maintains flexibility while performing a wide range of duties. Attention to detail required for data management. Honest, trustworthy, careful and thoughtful. Demonstrates a positive and professional demeanor.

Junior or Intermediate Interior Design Associate (Full-time)

Objective: As a versatile member of the design team, expand on design concepts for residential and commercial projects, and see project details through successfully.

Duties of the Interior Design Associate:

  • Assist in all phases of the process for all assigned projects
  • To the extent determined by level of experience and seniority, serve as a designer for assigned projects, ensuring consistent outcomes with all client relationships
  • Contribute to the creation of design drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD software
  • Select and source interior furnishings and finishes consistent with a project concept
  • Attend client meetings as requested with Principal Interior Designer and/or Project Manager to assist and take notes
  • Interact directly with clients, trades, etc., to ensure best possible outcomes for project work
  • Serve as primary point of contact for construction administration inquiries as assigned
  • Attend client meetings with Principal Interior Designer and take notes
  • Assist with presentation preparation and present material as requested
  • Independently visit projects in progress for field verification as appropriate
  • Obtain quotes and accurately input purchasing data into the firm’s management program
  • Communicate with receiver to ensure that products are received on time and in expected condition, keeping tracking information updated in the firm’s management program, and bringing any problems to the attention of Project Manager or Principal Designer
  • Visit showrooms as needed for research, orders and accessories
  • Attend vendor representative presentations and meetings and stay up-to-date on product offerings
  • Take part in on-site project installations with team, assist in directing installers
  • Assist with answering phone as needed
  • Pitch in with anything else that is required. We are a small team and everyone’s contribution is important, especially during peak times

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Plus a minimum 2 years professional design office experience. This is a non-management position.

Technical Skills: Able to expand a design concept from the overall direction provided by Principal Designer. Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting of construction drawings is required. Has at least a working knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign. Proficiency in 3D rendering with SketchUp preferred. A good sense of graphic design for the digital layout of presentations is a plus.
