PROJECT TYPE: Major renovation design + Turn-key furnishing
LOCATION: Sarasota, FL
SIZE: 6,500 sq ft
STORY:This Sarasota home is a hidden gem located in a peaceful neighborhood surrounded by oak trees, a winding canopy road, and nearby horse farms. After extensive renovation completed just in time for the holidays, the interior is now perfectly suited to the busy lifestyle of our client's family, and ready to entertain.
The formal living room welcomes family and friends and sets the tone for the rest of the home, with its stone fireplace, tall wood paneling, and 14 foot ceiling. The dining room features a rich palette of natural textures, sculptural handmade lighting, and custom window treatments. The heart of the great room layout, the kitchen, quietly bridges the separate spaces and unifies the palette with cabinets in the same stained wood as the living room wall paneling, a white island, and soft brass accents. Off the kitchen is a breakfast nook whose irregular shape is embraced by the custom, built-in banquette and organically shaped wood slab table, made from old-growth Laurel Oak reclaimed from a tree felled in Downtown Sarasota's Rosemary District earlier this year. The family room is defined by a large sectional sofa in coppery-brown performance fabric and accents of light and dark green.
"This home is a shining example of the way we interpret transitional style, where traditional and contemporary meet one another in this warm and sophisticated place," says Angela Rodriguez, "In this way we strike a balance between elegant and comfortable. The feel of the spaces is just as well suited to everyday family life as fancy entertaining."
